Speed Of Drying
Shed light on the concepts of speed of the drying process of materials, natural state contain a certain amount of water be removed to allow subsequent use becomes the most important factor when energy resources are scarce and their price is constantly increase.
Industrial drying processes are accelerated through the use of heat, should be used to produce fuel. Currently, and still more in the future, fuel will become the dominant factor that influences the cost of industrial production.
It is therefore important to analyze and understand the physical phenomena that affect the speed drying. Drying at high speed with low fuel consumption means lower costs.
Knowledge of factors determining the drying rate allows designers to bring high-performance technical solution.
Drying is a physical process occurring in nature, for example, the grain grows green and then dry under the action of the sun and wind. The farmer filled cages with corn cobs, these windy, dry taking the classic yellow, this process occurs during the winter when there is no heat from the sun but the wind. In summary, if we have a grain drying in the presence of solar heat and wind, while in the case of corn, the process is completed only by the wind.
Observing these natural phenomena is understood that the moisture in solids moved from solid high, wheat or corn, to the fluid at low moisture content, which in this case is air. In the case of grain in a few weeks is drying while in the case of corn it takes a few months. We can say that: when the wind dries only lengthens the time when you have a combination wind more heat, the speed of drying is higher and consequently reduces the time required.
A simple experiment helps to understand this phenomenon, we take very wet and freshly washed clothes and hang in two different rooms, a fully closed and the other with the windows open. We note that at room temperature in the open room has dried much shorter time than hanging in the closed room, or we can say that has undergone a process of drying faster.
The reason is simple, locked room in the water as it evaporates tends to saturate the air with steam and consequently the rate of drying is greatly reduced.
That hung in the open room, with continuous air exchange, has dried completely and much faster, this is because as water moves from wet clothes to air, this air is changed with new «low-moisture» always ensuring a constant rate of evaporation and removal.
Observing these natural phenomena we can deduce that a continuous supply of air near the wet substance ensures the removal of water evaporated, and with increasing temperatures this phenomenon is increased speed directly proportional to the temperature and thus reducing the drying time.
The drying process industry is the result of a physical process in nature is made up of millions of years, now thanks to modern technology, this process can be used for various procedures.
